Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information handled when a visitor uses Merrick County Court Docket, the reasons it may be used, and the circumstances in which it may be shared. Continued use of the service means acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

When a name or case number is entered in a search tool, the input is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns any result under its own terms. Merrick County Court Docket does not store or log those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If a visitor sends an email, the message may be retained to respond to the request. It is not shared outside the organization except when disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Like most online services, the servers can receive limited technical information as pages load. That information can include:

  • The IP address assigned to the device
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and the time spent on them
  • The referring site, when one is supplied
  • Page-view timestamps

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files a browser can store to help a service understand use patterns. Analytics providers may aggregate traffic information, such as page popularity and navigation paths. Browser controls can block cookies, although parts of the service may then behave differently.

What We Do With This Data

Technical and voluntarily supplied information may be used for ordinary operation of the service. Uses can include:

  • Keeping pages available and improving load performance
  • Passing a submitted search to the relevant partner service
  • Reviewing aggregate use patterns and service usefulness
  • Diagnosing technical faults and protecting service operation
  • Supporting advertising that may be interest based

No Court-Record Data on File

Merrick County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case records. It provides general reference information about where Merrick County court records are held and how they may be requested from the County Court Clerk Magistrate, the Clerk of District Court, or Nebraska JUSTICE. It is not a consumer reporting agency, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or profiles about other people.

Official court-record access is governed by the Nebraska Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, together with court-specific rules. Nebraska Supreme Court Rule §1-805 addresses public electronic court information. Those authorities apply to the official custodian and do not mean every document, image, or case is publicly available.

Third-Party Search Partners

Search boxes are operated by outside providers. Information submitted through a partner tool is handled under that provider’s privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing rules. Merrick County Court Docket does not control those policies. Review a partner’s terms before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links can lead to Merrick County offices, Nebraska court resources, court portals, or outside services. When a visitor follows one of those links, the destination’s privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across services or to provide interest-based advertising. That activity is governed by the partner, not this policy.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to the following categories when needed:

  • Search partners that process a query submitted through their tool
  • Analytics services used to measure traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks that place advertising on the service
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices are used to protect information handled by the service. No internet-connected system can guarantee complete security, so the service cannot promise that unauthorized access or a security incident will never occur.

Users Under 18

This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a minor’s information appears to have been provided directly, contact the service so the situation can be reviewed.

Your Data Rights

The Nebraska Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, concerns access to records held by public bodies. Court electronic records are additionally governed by rules including Rule §1-805 and restrictions such as Nebraska Supreme Court Rule §1-808. These court-record rules do not create a right to obtain sealed, redacted, juvenile, adoption, or otherwise protected material from a private reference service. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may still:

  • Ask for a copy of personal information retained in a direct communication
  • Ask that inaccurate contact information be corrected
  • Request deletion of information where applicable
  • Object to certain processing where an available legal right permits it

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as service practices change. The current version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
